Volunteer of the Month
Volunteer of the Month is an area-wide award program presented by the Helpline Center. The Volunteer of the Month Award is given to an individual, or a group of individuals, who exhibit an outstanding commitment to volunteer service. One award is given to a winner each month in the Sioux Empire and Black Hills.
The Helpline Center sends out the Volunteer of the Month Nomination Form to area non-profit agencies each year. A winner is selected out of the nominations for each month, and a surprise celebration is held for the volunteer at the agency where the winner chooses to give their time.

Jessica Armstrong
Jessica organized a group of over 100 volunteers from her company, Eide Bailly, to volunteer with Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation. This year the date was timely with the recent flood cleanup endeavors. Jessica has been volunteering for at least the past 3 years. Her nominator states, “It is an enormous task to take on organizing a group of this size with multiple parks and multiple tasks. The group does some "heavy lifting" for our department and has a significant impact in cleanup efforts in the park areas identified. This year alone, over 100 volunteers saved the department nearly $25,000. Volunteers are an important part of our team and help us in many ways. We appreciate everyone who gives us the gift of their time. Thank you for making our community a better place.”
