Program Information

Whether it's serving civil papers, warrants, patrolling Pennington County or investigating crimes, the employees in the Law Enforcement Division are always ready to assist Pennington County residents and visitors. The department is a year-round prescription drug take-back site.

The County Sheriff is also the contact for mental health holds, burning bans, county jails/correctional facilities (including Western SD Juvenile Center), and fingerprinting for pistol permits. Other reasons for fingerprinting in Pennington County, are done by Rapid City police at (605) 394-6612.
