Contributes to the Core Science Systems Mission Area through research and operational activities that enable the understanding of local to global land change. EROS holds one of the world's largest collections of images of the Earth's surface.
The Center manages and distributes this data, acquired by civilian satellites and aircraft, to scientists, policymakers, and educators worldwide. This data is used to study a wide range of natural hazards, global environmental changes, economic development, and conservation issues.
USGS EROS is open to tours on weekdays. Learn about the Landsat satellite program, view imagery of our planet, and walk the historic halls of the data center. Guided tours available Monday - Friday, 10:00am and 2:00pm. Self-guided tours available weekdays 8:00am - 4:00pm. During inclement weather, please call to make sure the center is open.
