Helpline Center Events
Each year the Helpline Center hosts several signature events. We hope you'll join us at one of our events as we bring our community together to build awareness and support of our programs. If you'd like to learn more about our events and how to get involved, contact us by calling 211.
For over 35 years, the Spirit of Volunteerism breakfasts are held each spring in Sioux Falls and Rapid City. The Helpline Center's Volunteer Connections program is seeking nominations from the community through March 3 for various categories. The honorees are set to be recognized in Sioux Falls on April 16 and Rapid City on April 22. Both events will include a keynote speaker, guest emcee along with other special speakers during the program.

Bridging Yankton, Pathways to Hope, Help & Healing is a suicide prevention group whose mission is to increase suicide awareness by supporting local and statewide prevention efforts which provide hope, help and healing to individuals and families in our community. Formed in 2016, this coalition of Yankton community members work in partnership with the Helpline Center and United Way of Greater Yankton to plan and host our community’s annual Step Forward to Prevent Suicide Walk.
When you support the Bridging Yankton's Step Forward to Prevent Suicide Walk, you join efforts with thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow the Helpline Center to provide statewide prevention services, educational programs, and support survivors of suicide loss.
For more information, please contact the United Way of Greater Yankton at info@yanktonunitedway.org or call (605) 665-6766.

Each year since 2022, a group of twelve runners stop at nothing to influence and create positive change in the Mount Rushmore State. In 2025, on Thursday, September 25 the runners will depart from the west side of the state to begin the 437 mile relay-style journey. Tackling the ever-changing South Dakota weather and terrain, runners will connect with communities as they raise funds and awareness for mental health and suicide prevention, finishing in Sioux Falls on Sunday, September 28. Click here to view the 2025 runners and to support the project.
Each year over 48,000 people in the United States die by suicide leaving behind thousands of loved ones to endure this life-changing loss. Your donation to The 437 Project provides ongoing support to someone who has lost a family member or friend to suicide, connecting them with resources and support groups to navigate through the grieving process. Your contributions to the project and the Helpline Center will also allow team members access to adequate training to ensure the skills necessary to identify those at risk of suicide and provide the life-saving means to help.
