Provides free non-driver identification cards for individuals experiencing homelessness. This is a one-time benefit.
Eligibility
Individuals experiencing homelessness.
Disabilities access
No services provided on-site, hearing and speech-impaired individuals can contact by dialing 711, the free national access number that connects to Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS).
Required Documents
Completed application, affidavit, proof of homelessness, social security card (if available), proof of identification via birth certificate if first time applicant for an ID card in South Dakota.
Application Process
Affidavit of Homeless Status and Consent for use of South Dakota Address forms must be signed in front of a notary public by both the individual experiencing homelessness and the Homeless Service Provide (HSP) with knowledge of the individuals housing status. An affidavit may not be accepted as proof of homelessness unless completely filled out and signed by both required parties.
