Anna Moore
SFA Child Evangelism FellowshipAnna is instrumental in co-leading Christian Youth in Action (CYIA) and other CEF events serving children throughout the year. Through CYIA, Anna meets students from around South Dakota for week-long training to lead dynamic 5-Day Clubs for kids. Anna’s ability to connect with children through interactive games and sharing the good news of Jesus with them is helping children know they matter to her and matter to God. We are thankful to see Anna positively impact lives and the next generation.

Siouxland Heritage MuseumsDaniel Hoskins assists with a wide variety of events and living history programs with Siouxland Heritage Museums. In addition, he helps rake leaves, assemble shelves, and shovel snow. Whether dressing as a soldier or doing lawn maintenance, he is always happy to lend a hand and help the museum share our community’s history.

SFA Child Evangelism FellowshipInstrumental in co-leading Christian Youth in Action (CYIA) and other CEF events throughout the year, Gracie is positively impacting children in the Sioux Falls Area and beyond. Through CYIA teens from around the State gather for week-long leadership training to learn effective and engaging ways to lead a dynamic summer Clubs for kids and present the gospel of Jesus on a child’s level. Gracie’s strong leadership and positive attitude greatly impacts our community and those we serve.

Sioux Falls ThriveFor the past 4 years, or since he was 8, Jonezy Jones-Esquibel has made a meaningful impact on the community through the Eat Well Sioux Falls Mobile Market and various Sioux Falls Thrive events. Whether assisting with event setup and teardown, engaging with attendees as a mascot, or helping with door-to-door surveys, Jonezy’s hard work and positive attitude have uplifted both fellow volunteers and community members.

St. Francis HouseThe Spirit of Volunteerism started early with Max. Max joins his Grandma Linda and her friends from Alpha Delta Kappa to serve lunch to the guests at the St Francis House. Volunteering has become one of Max’s favorite things, reminding him that small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

Philip Kue
Philip has a heart to serve his community and the people he sees on the street. With the help of his family, Philip put together 25 bags called “Pip Packs” that include a hat, gloves, t-shirt, hand warmers, bible, resource guide, and note. Philip then hand delivers the bags to individuals he sees on the street and introduces himself.

This generous gift helped keep the Mobile Market on the road, ensuring continued access to fresh food for local residents. Additionally, owner Les Schwab donated $475 in Mobile Market gift cards to Sioux Falls Thrive.

Family Visitation CenterFor 10+ years, Sunshine Foods has graciously provided cupcakes for every child’s birthday celebration at FVC – a cupcake for the honoree and one for each person present for the party. These delicious professionally decorated cupcakes are generously provided for FVC birthday celebrations 52 weeks a year. Since the one hour at FVC is the only hour of the week children spend with their parents, birthdays need to be celebrated during their visit. Sunshine Foods makes these celebrations SWEET!

Bethel #38, Job's Daughters International
This remarkable group of dynamic young women, between the ages of 10 and 19, has dedicated countless hours to making blankets that were donated to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children. They’ve also raised several hundred dollars to support the Hearing Improvement Kids Endowment fund, which purchases assistive hearing devices for Deaf children. Additionally, they have participated in a Fearlessly Kind Summit to improve their schools and community, empowering them to be the change they want to see.

The Davis Family
Lifeline Children's ServicesIn 2024, the Davis family hosted 5 children for a total of 68 days. These hostings included parents experiencing medical emergencies and a single mother facing challenges with addiction. In each of these cases, the Davis family loved the children in their care incredibly well and provided them with stability, which gave the children’s parents time to work through a crisis situation.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sioux FallsThe Family Selection Committee is a group of 14 individuals, seven men and seven women, who care deeply about people in the Greater Sioux Falls community who are facing housing challenges and barriers to home ownership. The committee members bring their unique skills and expertise to help Habitat staff process applications, interview applicants, set policies, and assess the ever-changing housing market.

LifeScape Children's FacilityDavid and Jackie Kocak are the epitome of power couple. But this does not mean they do not know how to individually spend time with people we support at LifeScape! They commit each week Monday mornings to the individuals in our LifeScape Specialty Pediatric Rehabilitation Hospital. EVERY week they are dedicated to and committed to bringing compassionate and creative joy to each person they meet. Their willingness to do not only what is right, but what is fun and engaging is incomparable.

Lunch is ServedLinda and Lori Heberling, the mother and daughter duo that have been volunteering every Monday night at Lunch is Served for over a decade! They are in charge of the kitchen. They keep it running smoothly from beginning to end! They make sure all of the supplies are ready for the volunteer groups that come to make the lunches. They are hospitable! All of the volunteers love working with them and there are many smiles coming from the kitchen! I would say that they have made over 200,000 sandwiches.

St. Francis HouseOn the fourth Thursday of every month the “Big Kids” from the Robinson Family Day Care put down their crayons, and volunteer to serve lunch at the St Francis House. Guided by their caregiver Tracy, the children stand on their chairs and help serve up great food and unlimited smiles to our guests. Through their efforts, they learn the value of compassion, giving back, and making a meaningful impact on their community.

Sioux Falls Thrive Board of Directors
The Sioux Falls Thrive Board has been instrumental in guiding and supporting Thrive staff through critical challenges, especially the pilot phase of the first-ever mobile grocery store in Sioux Falls, and the state of South Dakota. Thrive’s designation as the community’s cradle-to-career workforce development initiative requires creative oversight by individuals with expertise in the needs of our most vulnerable children and families.

Toy Lending Library of South Dakota Board of Directors
This nomination is to our current and to all former Board Members of the Toy Lending Library of SD. The organization is celebrating its 10th anniversary and their work to guide the Toy Lending Library forward needs to be celebrated. With their support and expertise, the organization created 20 partnerships! Not only that but also more than 35,000 toy boxes were checked out/renewed since its humble beginnings in 2015. Can you imagine all the children that got to play and learn because of them?

Britton Gordon
Cystic Fibrosis FoundationBritton’s grandfather passed away from cystic fibrosis in 2022. Britton was very close to her grandfather and volunteered at his golf tournament benefitting Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) for 13 years. In 2024, Britton volunteered at three of CFF’s events in Sioux Falls, providing over 35 hours of volunteer time. The CF community is fortunate to have Britton continue to honor her love of her grandfather by continuing to support the CF Foundation with her talents, time, and treasures.

Alpha CenterLaura has volunteered for the past two years, primarily in a client services capacity. She meets with clients for education appointments, assists them as they use their earned Baby Bucks in Alpha Center’s Baby Boutique, and occasionally sits at the front desk to greet clients as they arrive. She meets clients with kind words and a smile, and helps them in whatever way she can. Her willingness to do clerical projects has also been very helpful for the staff.

At Feeding South Dakota, she has helped combat hunger by assisting in the distribution of food to those in need. Her involvement with the YMCA Leif Ericson Day Camp has enriched the lives of children by participating in activities that promote youth development. Additionally, at Almost Home Canine Rescue, Nicole has played a vital role in rescuing and rehoming dogs, ensuring they find loving families. SiouxperConFor 10 years Shane has been the driving force behind SiouxperCon. As Convention Director, Shane led the team to record attendance, record profits with over 1 million contributed to the Sioux Falls economy & record donations to local charities. Leading a volunteer staff of 55 and 100 weekend convention volunteers by example greeting the over 11,000 attendees, thanking the over 200 vendors and caring for the 50 plus celebrity guests. He is always first to arrive and last to leave.

Her efforts along with much community help provided a variety of frozen meals and canned goods, expanding access to nutritious food for the community!

Family Visitation CenterLonny has been faithfully creating and delivering handmade birthday, Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, etc. cards to FVC since 2017. Beaming with pride and joy, children painstakingly select, autograph, and present a card to parents during their visit. Fathers sign Mother’s Day cards with their children (and vice versa). When the recipient receives these signed cards (whose workmanship would shame Hallmark), their reaction often includes emotional tears of joy. Lonny is a gift to FVC.

LifeScapeMary has been a top fundraiser and enthusiastic promoter of LifeScape since she became actively involved in 2011 and joined the Foundation board in 2014. As LifeScape raises funds for a new children’s services campus, Mary has led the way, securing donations of $1,735,266.53 for the project, the most of any current board member. She challenges other board members to raise money, attend LifeScape events, and continue to learn about the organization.

Avera McKennan HospitalPat has volunteered at Avera McKennan since February 2012. She has volunteered over 2600 hours. Pat has volunteered in a few areas. Most recently she is the big smile in the lobby of Plaza 2 on the main campus. She welcomes all patients and visitors, helping them find where they need to be.
