A treatment team, headed by a psychiatrist, works to evaluate current symptoms and develop a positive treatment plan to address concerns.
- Treatment services include, but are not limited to depression, anxiety, addictive disorders, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and schizophrenia.
- Group therapies focus on developing coping skills through expressive therapies and behavioral therapy.

Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program at Human Services Center
Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program at Yankton Site
Provides services for adult patients who have severe and persistent mental illness.
The goal is to assist the person in developing skills that will help them live in the least restrictive and most normal setting possible. The programming is designed to help patients develop life skills that will be needed for discharge placement and to restore patients to competency for court.
Acute Program Program at Human Services Center
Yankton Site
Provides for initial assessment and stabilization of adult psychiatric patients. During the 12-15 day average length of stay, the program initiates and develops treatment and discharge plans.
The program promotes and facilitates the patients independent functioning in daily activities. Emphasis is on providing care, treatment and rehabilitation services that will enable the patients to return to and function in the community at the earliest possible time.
The Acute Program is Medicare approved by the Health Care Financing Administration. The Intensive Treatment Unit is available for adults and adolescents who require short term intensive monitoring.
