| As part of Volunteer Sioux Falls, 24 SALSA members gave over 96 hours of their time on Sept. 27 by painting a mural and sorting a storeroom at a YES daycare site. |
In November, 52 SALSA members gave a total of 95 hours on a single Saturday to Second Chance Rescue Center. The teens walked dogs, played with cats and helped with various shelter projects.

In just two days in December, 48 SALSA members gave a total of 93 hours to gift wrapping at the Empire Mall. All proceeds from the effort went to the Children’s Inn, a shelter for abused and neglected children and women.

On a cold January Saturday night, 25 SALSA youth gave 71 hours to Salvation Army Night Watch. The youth collected food prior to the event, using their donations to make spaghetti for men, women and children in the Sioux Falls area who needed food assistance. SALSA also gave out knit hats and mittens, and decorated the tables with flowers and placemats. |
| In October, SALSA celebrated Make A Difference Day. About 40 SALSA members gave 153 hours to two projects on Oct. 25. Some SALSA teens raked yards for the elderly in cooperation with the Downtown Lions. Others spent the day working on various projects at Hope Haven. |
